About BioHacks 2026
BioHacks 2026 is a two-day biomedical case challenge at McMaster University on November 7 and 8, hosted by BioEng4Youth and BMETT. It is an official MLH Member Event.
Every team receives the same neurological patient case at the opening ceremony. Your team picks one of three tracks and spends the weekend building a solution for that patient. Software, hardware and detailed design concepts are all welcome.

- Detection and Diagnostics
- Therapeutics and Delivery
- Wearable Devices and Quality of Life
Each team competes in exactly one track. You lock in your track on the team form by 12:00 PM on Saturday, and your project is judged only in that track.
Side quests
Sponsor prizes are optional and sit outside the three tracks. Opt in to any of them when you submit, and your team can win them alongside its track result.
Key times
Saturday, November 7
- 10:00 AM Opening ceremony, MCCD 2100 auditorium
- 11:00 AM Team formation. Anyone without a team is matched with one.
- 12:00 PM Team registration closes and tracks are locked in
Sunday, November 8
- 11:30 AM Submissions due on Devpost
- 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Expo judging, MCCD 7110 and 7120
- 4:30 PM Closing ceremony and winners, MCCD 2100 auditorium

Requirements
What to build
A solution for the patient case in the track your team locked in. It can be software, hardware, a 3D printed prototype or a detailed design concept, as long as it was made during the event.
What to submit
- One project per team, submitted by 11:30 AM on Sunday, November 8.
- Your track, chosen in the submission form. It must match the track on your team form.
- A clear description of the problem you chose, how your solution works and what you built.
- Links to your code, CAD files, slides or other project material.
- Every teammate added to the Devpost project.
- Any side quest prizes you want to be considered for.
Judging is in person. Your team presents at the expo on Sunday from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, and judges come to your table.
